Brenda and Judy's 20th Anniversary Celebration at Rosedale

Back

Sunday, November 14th marked a special day at Rosedale. We celebrated Brenda and Judy's 20th Anniversary as the musical leaders of our fine church. Many of us sang our hearts out to the beautiful composition, "Peace Be With You", created by Carl Nygard,Jr.

We are so very grateful for his contribution!

And this wonderful celebration started in the dreams of Doug Reinert, who helped to make something so very special come to life.

Thanks from Brenda and Judy:
Never in our wildest dreams did we ever imagine the events of Sunday, November 14. It was an incredible day! To the congregation, thank you for the opportunity to have served in a music leadership position for the past twenty years. The reception and everyone’s kind words will be treasured by us. To the choir, thank you for your commitment to the music program and for the fellowship and support you provide week in and week out. We also appreciate the time you devoted to rehearsing “Peace Will Lead You.” To Curt, we are grateful to you for carrying out Doug’s vision for such a special day. To Carl Nygard, we express our sincerest gratitude for sharing your talents and gift of music. And finally to Rich, we appreciate your guidance and the way you work with us as a team. We will hold the moments of the day in our hearts forever.  With many thanks,  Brenda and Judy

Thanks from Pastor Leiby:
Certainly Brenda and Judy can and will express their own thanks, but on behalf of our parish I want to thank all who were involved on that marvelous and moving day, for although we honored two great servants, we also celebrated the Church.  In a time when people are ready to bury and forget the Church, the events of that day and all that led up to it spoke volumes of what it means to be a caring and involved Church Family.  It was a labor of love from start to finish, and as much as it was about Brenda and Judy it was also about us and our love for one another.

People cared enough to spend hours planning and rehearsing, giving of their valued time because they were involved in something more important than self.  This type of love is becoming increasingly rare in our society, but it was evident on November 14th.  We sometimes can forget how people from Sunday School teachers to Choir Directors can touch and impact others.  This was brought home to me through the young mothers who were once choir members as children themselves, and who were present to honor their former leaders.  There is a wondrous beauty in observing different generations sing God’s praises every week in our choir.

In absentia, we all thank Doug Reinert for the composition of an anthem in honor of Brenda and Judy was his dea, and he made the original contact with the composer our people came to know and love Carl Nygard, Jr.  We are to be appreciative for Marcia Reinert who served as the bridge when Doug became too ill to see his dream to fruition, and she did the painful but necessary job of passing the mantle of leadership on to Curt Hoyt.  Curt became our contact with Carl and with all the choir members who surreptitiously (that’s a fancy way of saying sneaky) practiced for weeks.  Thanks to Sue and Larry Kirk for the use of their home for rehearsals, for Sue playing the anthem’s accompaniment, and for Larry’s pictures and slide show at the reception.  Thanks to Scott Wamsher for making a video of the anthem and to Beth Vesper who served as the choir director in Carl’s absence.  Also, we thank Sue and Peg Ritter for the cake and all those who contributed food.  Thanks to Marcia and Ashley Becker for the signed and framed anthem that now hangs in the Choir Room.   Finally, thanks to Virginia Christ for granting us the privilege of using William Christ’s Memorial Fund to commission the anthem.  Rich
